The Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav Ioan is to sanctify today the newly-built church “St. Procopius of Varna” in Bulgaria's maritime capital. The construction of the temple started at the beginning of 2009. “St. Procopius of Varna” is the first temple built in the city of Varna in the past 110 years. "The hardest job was to paint the Holy Theotokos in the altar", icon painter Galin Ganchev said for Radio Varna.

Benches and lights were installed in the area outside the new church. Trees and bushes were planted there as well. A multipurpose complex for social and cultural events containing a function hall, a library, a meal center and a doctor’s office was built on the premises of the church complex.
