Bulgaria and North Macedonia should restore mutual trust

As rapporteur of the European Parliament for North Macedonia, the Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk has paid a visit to Skopje, the Renew Europe group said. Kyuchyuk spoke with the country's ruling party and opposition leaders.

The rapporteur said that bilateral issues with Bulgaria should be resolved in a bilateral format. Politicians have the responsibility for political decisions, while history should be left to historians. "The accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the EU is of strategic interest not only for you but also for Bulgaria. That is why there is a need for dialogue, sincere relations and a return to the agreement of 2017," Kyuchuk said.
