The specialized prosecutor's office brings to court a Bulgarian citizen of Syrian origin, accused of participation in Islamist terrorist groups.

He was arrested on July 1, 2020 in Burgas, during a joint operation of SANS and GDBOP. During the searches, many photos and videos were seized, in which the arrested person was seen in a combat situation, wearing a uniform and with a weapon in his hands.

In the course of the investigation, it was proved that he was attracted to the ideas of jihadism by his Syrian father, who was involved in Islamist groups. In the period August 28, 2017 to September 26, 2019, the detainee traveled to Syria five times, where he was most often involved in the activities of the Jabhat al-Shamiyah group in the Aleppo region. He is to remain in custody.
