Today is Meatfare Sunday

Today is the last day on which Christian Orthodox believers eat meat. On the Christian Orthodox calendar Meatfare Sunday falls on the Sunday 8 weeks before Easter.

Traditionally, meat is eaten at dinner, after which no meat is eaten until after Lent. By a tradition, on this night the entire family sits down to table to a rich meal of bread wine and different kinds of meat.
