Student from Sofia receives European Commission award for young translators

Lachezar Popov is the Bulgarian winner in the 14th edition of the European Commission's Juvenes Translatores competition. He is a student at 32nd High School "St. Kliment Ohridski" in Sofia. With his translation from English into Bulgarian, Lachezar won against 72 competitors from 17 high schools in Bulgaria and is one of the 27 winners - one from each EU country.

The European Commission's translators selected the winners out of 2,797 participants from all across the EU. They had the choice to translate between any combination of two of the EU's official languages. The online award ceremony will be held on July 2, 2021, BTA reported.
