School year will end with in-person classes
The school year will end with in-person classes. External assessment and matriculation exams will be held in schools and no teaching material will be skipped. This was what outgoing Minister of Education Krassimir Valchevsaid in Veliko Tarnovo, BNR correspondent Zdravka Maslyankova reported. The school year is extended for students from 1st to 6th grade. Probably, more students will need additional training in order to overcome educational difficulties, the minister said. The external assessment and matriculation exams for the students from 4th, 7th, 1st and 12th grade will be held in person. There is no educational lag compared to previous years, the Minister of Education added.
367 new Covid-19 cases reported in past day, positivity rate drops below 6% for past day
367 is the number of new coronavirus cases in the country out of 6,206 tests performed in the past 24 hours, a positivity rate of 5.9%, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show. In all regions of the country the number of newly registered Covid-19 cases has dropped below 100. The highest number of new infections is in Sofia – 68, followed by Varna with 66, Burgas with 34 and Plovdiv with 21. 47,357 is the number of active cases, 6,670 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 637 of them in intensive care. 61 have died over the past 24 hours, 1,058 have recovered. 11,133 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 844,643. A total of 225,387 have received their second dose of vaccine.
Abu Dhabi quarantines Bulgarian arrivals with tracking wristband
Bulgarian arrivals in Abu Dhabi are required to present a PCR test result. They will be placed under quarantine and will be monitored via a tracking wristband, read the new Covid-19 rules in Abu Dhabi which have been in force since May 3, 2021, announced the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.
Russia cancels charter flights to Bulgaria until end of May
Russia has canceled its charter flights to Bulgaria until the end of May, announced the German concessionaire of the airports in Burgas and Varna. The last Russian charter with 143 Russian tourists onboard arrived on the southern Black Sea coast in March, said Evelina Puleva, a board member of the Burgas Regional Chamber of Tourism. Another flight from Russia is expected on May 9. If Bulgaria’s authorities do not take immediate measures, the charter programs of the two airlines may be cancelled until the end of the summer.
