ABBA's "Waterloo" is the favourite song of Europeans among all those who have participated in the 65-year-long history of the Eurovision Song Contest. This is shown by the results of the voting in the "Eurovision Top 50" ranking, which ended on the eve of this year's edition of the competition.
However, the Bulgarian audience has other favourites. “If Love Was a Crime” (2016) by Poli Genova is the favorite song of the Bulgarians, among all songs which have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest over the years. It is followed by “Beautiful Mess“ by Christian Kostov (2017) in second place and “Water” by Elitsa and Stundzhi (2007) in the third place. In fourth and fifth place, the Bulgarians have placed two Swedish hits - Euphoria (Loreen, 2012) and "Waterloo" (ABBA, 1974).
Six of the top 10 best-loved hits from Eurovision by Bulgarians are Bulgarian songs that have participated in the competition, the poll reveals.
Two days ago, with an official ceremony in Rotterdam, the official start of "Eurovision 2021" was given.
"There are only a few days left until the semi-finals on May 20 and I can't wait to perform" Growing Up is Getting Old "on the biggest music stage," said this year's Bulgarian representative of the competition Victoria Georgieva. “I like to sing about personal stories in which the audience can connect with my music by saying to themselves, “She’s like me.” I want to show people that I care about them. With this song I want to remind them that we need to love our families, we value our loved ones because life is short. "
The Bulgarian song will compete in the semi-finals with the representatives of 16 countries - San Marino, Estonia, Greece, the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Serbia, Georgia, Albania, Portugal, Finland, Latvia, Switzerland, Denmark. The final is on May 22nd.
Whether the song Growing Up is Getting Old will be among the favourites of the European audience remains to be seen. If it has managed to touch your heart, you can support the Bulgarian song on May 20.
