“Employment recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic must become priority No.1 for the country,” Minister of Labour and Social Policy Galab Donev said in his address to the International Confederation of Labour.

In his words the quality of the workforce can be improved by offering more training opportunities, using digital technologies and developing new flexible forms of work and telework. Minister Donev announced that the 60/40 wage subsidy and job preservation scheme had cost over 1% of the GDP last year.

It was also announced that the government is planning a 2.5 billion Leva guarantee programme to help SMEs and the self-employed.
