All of the 421 voting machines for the election abroad have been delivered. They have been dispatched to the diplomatic and consular missions, caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev announced at a press conference.

This week the machines will be delivered at the respective polling stations and handed over to the authorized staff. At this time the number of polling stations abroad is double the number at the regular parliamentary elections held on 4 April, Minister Stoev said. He thanked the Bulgarian communities abroad, stating they are a valued partner in the organization of the election.

Minister Stoev outlined specific problems connected with the elections abroad for which the Central Election Commission (CEC) is expected to come up with a decision.

One of them is that the final composition of the section election commissions has not been endorsed yet. Another problem is that these people have not undergone CEC training. “Unfortunately, there are no methodical guidelines either,” Minister Stoev said.

Bulgarians will be able to vote in the most remote corners of the world. Out of 782 polling stations in 68 countries, the westernmost will be located in San Francisco, USA, the easternmost - in Auckland, New Zealand, the northernmost - in Tromso, Norway, and the southernmost in Christchurch, New Zealand. Bulgarian compatriots will also be able to vote in Japan, Nigeria, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Russia and South Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent 380 officials abroad and 2530 people have been nominated by the Bulgarian communities and Bulgaria’s foreign representations as members of the polling station commissions. About 1,350 people have been nominated for members of the polling station commissions by political parties, Minister Stoev also said at the briefing.
