Representatives of the protesting medical professionals from the Pirogov Emergency Hospital in Sofia met with the Minister of Health, Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, in an attempt to find a way out of the tension over the removal of Professor Asen Baltov from the post of director of the hospital.
After the meeting, it was not clear whether the protests of the doctors and nurses from the medical institution, accused of draining BGN 1 million /EUR 500,000/ from the Health Insurance Fund through fictitious treatment, would be stopped, BNR reported.
The chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Ivan Madzharov, said that the results of the inspection of the hospital's cash register, which led to Baltov's removal, would be examined by the competent authorities. Both sides expressed confidence in the professionalism of the doctors from Pirogov and united around the need for healthcare reform.
