A monument to US President Woodrow Wilson has been unveiled in the historic center of Sofia. The monument is a sign of gratitude for the role of the statesman in preserving Bulgarian sovereignty after the end of World War I during the Versailles Conference in 1919.
The monument was designed by famous Bulgarian sculptor Georgi Chapkanov. The opening was attended by representatives of the Bulgarian intellectual elite and many representatives of the judiciary, on whose initiative the monument was built.
