500,000 needy Bulgarians to receive food packages

A campaign for the distribution of food packages to the most needy is starting today in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced. Nearly 500,000 people will receive 5,500 tons of food worth EUR 6.85 million

The distribution schedule is prepared by the Bulgarian Red Cross. The food packages contain 15 types of basic necessities. Three-member or bigger families are to receive food packages weighing about 28 kilograms. Smaller families are to receive food packages weighing about 18 kilograms. The assistance is funded with EU money. Currently, 201 Bulgarian municipalities provide hot lunch to 58,500 people during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced.
