A cargo ship ran aground early this morning near Yailata protected area close to Kamen Bryag village, BNR’s Radio Varna reports.

The maritime vessel Vera Su was built in 1989 and is operated by a Turkish company. It is a 3,217 gt. ship, 86 metres long and with a loaded draught of 4.7 metres. The ship, sailing under a Panamanian flag, was transporting fertilizers from Ukraine to Varna. There is no spillage of fuel or other pollutants during the incident, and no members of the crew have been hurt, the prosecutor’s office says. An investigation is ongoing into the causes of the accident. The site has been inspected to establish whether there is evidence of a crime, and how the ship can be pulled from the rocks safely.
