Bulgaria has expressed interest in hosting the regional naval component of the Allied Maritime Command in the Black Sea - MARCOM. This position has been recalled by Defense Minister Georgi Panayotov at a meeting with his counterparts in the Romanian capital city of Bucharest.

Panayotov reiterated Bulgaria's support for strengthening the NATO-EU partnership in the field of defense and security. The threats and challenges on the Alliance's Eastern flank should be reflected in NATO's future Strategic Concept, Panayotov added.
