The National Assembly approved, by unanimity, to keep the 9% VAT rate until the end of 2022, in the sectors affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The lower VAT rate concerns the restaurant business, sports halls, books and some baby products. For the first time, an amendment to a tax law was voted at two readings simultaneously. This was done because the amendments have to come into effect as of 1 January, 2022.
