Finance Minister: We need a balanced scheme to help businesses over expensive electricity

The scheme to support Bulgarian businesses due to high electricity prices must be balanced, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Asen Vassilev at a meeting of parliamentary committees on finance and energy. According to him, it is not possible for the state to take the full risk of businesses in the electricity sector. 

"The dramatic situation is due not so much to increased consumption or less supply on the Bulgarian market, but to the connection of the Bulgarian market with international markets and the extremely high level of exports, which raises prices," said the Minister. 
The Ministry of Finance has provided a total of BGN 860 million in budget funds for additional support of Bulgarian businesses in the period December-March.
