Bulgaria's preparation for eurozone membership is on track, according to an article by Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Asen Vassilev in the Bulletin of the Association of Commercial Banks. He does not mention a date for the changeover from the lev to the euro, but previously he repeatedly pointed to January 1, 2024. In the spring, an information campaign to inform citizens and businesses about the upcoming currency change will be launched.“The stability of the financial system will not be threatened", the article reads. Assen Vassilev has also pointed out the key role of banks in economic growth.
