“Ethnicity, colours and Kotel carpets” presents the arts and crafts of the Eastern Balkan Range

The carpets of Kotel

The festival “Ethnicity, colours and Kotel carpets” was presented at an online meeting connected with handicrafts in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.

A video presents the idea of the forum through the eyes of a child paying a visit with his ancestors and getting acquainted with the traditions in Kotel and the surrounding area. The project is financed under the Erasmus+ programme and is connected with the state of the handicrafts in Bulgaria.

This year’s festival in Kotel is scheduled from the 29th to the 31st of July and will feature arts and crafts, exhibitions, rituals, the art of gastronomy, dancing and music. There will be an exposition of hand-woven carpets from Kotel, as well as weaving using an upright loom and wool dyeing.
