MEPs concerned about judicial reforms proposed by Bulgarian government

MEPs from the European Parliament's LIBE Monitoring Group are seriously concerned about the "war of the Bulgarian government against the prosecutor's office", BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova has reported.

An explanation has been requested for the public statements of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov that "our role is to put people in the prosecutor's office and in the anti-corruption commission." They insist on explaining what is expected from the accelerated closure of the specialized courts and the prosecutor's office, what are the guarantees that the cases against oligarchs with great economic interests will not be closed.
The chief prosecutor must answer why a key witness in the investigation into corruption in the construction of the Hemus highway was denied protection.
