Kirill Petkov: Bulgaria is a predictable member of NATO and the EU

Bulgaria's position regarding tensions between Russia and Ukraine is unequivocal, Premier Kirill Petkov said in an interview for the BBC in response to a question about the attempts of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to find weaknesses among the NATO members.

"Bulgaria has a strong voice in NATO and the European Union. It is a very predictable member of NATO and I don't think that the word weakness can be associated with us at all," Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Petkov noted. If Moscow responds to possible sanctions with restrictions in the energy sector, this could be a problem for Bulgaria, this country's Prime Minister said and added that he had discussed with the European Commission an action plan to restrict exports of electricity for Europe's Single Electricity Market, if such a situation occurs.
