"Replacing the defense minister while there is a military crisis in the neighborhood is a risk", Bulgarian president Rumen Radev said, clarifying his position after Prime Minister Kiryl Petkov asked for the resignation of Defense Minister Stefan Yanev.
"The responsibility for the consequences lies with the ruling coalition. In choosing a new minister, the majority must be guided by the candidate’s understanding of sovereignty, and by his professional competence and capability to defend the Bulgarian interest," Radev said.
The President stressed that he expected the government to step up work on measures to alleviate the consequences of the impending economic crisis - from strengthening security in the energy sector to ensuring food sovereignty.
