PM Kiril Petkov: We are sending hundreds of millions to Putin because of the MiGs

"MiG-29 fighters cannot be repaired in Russia and it is a ludicrous idea to send the machines there through some secondary companies," Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, who inspected the Ruse border checkpoint for the initial reception of refugees from Ukraine, told reporters. According to him, Bulgaria is sending hundreds of millions to Putin.

"The question is what to do so that our skies have sufficient protection and the pilots keep their abilities and fly with the planes we have at the moment," he said.

Bulgaria already speaks with one voice with the EU and our common security depends on our coordinated actions, according to the prime minister.  "Bulgaria stands as a European border with full readiness to accept a large number of incoming people," Petkov added.

The border checkpoints will be open 24 hours a day and persons entering the country with valid documents will be immediately registered for temporary protection and directed to accommodation.
