Differences are not a problem for humanity, but division and hatred are, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev said at the beginning of the traditional Iftar dinner on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslim communities in Bulgaria.

The President's hosting of the dinner is an expression of respect for the religious holiday and the traditions of Bulgarian citizens of the Muslim faith. Representatives of the Bulgarian religious communities, as well as heads of diplomatic missions in Bulgaria were invited to the traditional dinner.

In his speech to the official guests, President Radev said that the war did not solve problems, but deepened them, causing destruction, death and great suffering. The head of state pointed out that true victory is not won by aggression and destruction, but by peace and understanding. President Radev also said that the Iftar tradition symbolizes goodwill, understanding and cooperation between religious communities in the country and contributes to inter-institutional and inter-religious dialogue in Bulgarian society.

Rumen Radev pointed out the wisdom of the Bulgarian people, who managed to build a lasting culture of tolerance between the various religious and ethnic communities in this country, and which is a guiding light showing us the path bequeathed by our ancestors. That is why in times of a severe economic and social crisis, Bulgarians open their hearts and homes to all people fleeing from the war in Ukraine.
