Ukraine calls for 50-billion-dollar military loan

For the 16th time since the start of the war, the Ukrainian army has hit a Russian base near Kherson in Chernobaevka with long-range fire, presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said. Warehouses with missiles and ammunition were destroyed. It remains unclear why Russian forces persist in trying to expand their logistics base in Chernobayevka, where they already lost two generals.

Defenders of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol have disobeyed a Russian ultimatum and refused to surrender, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said. There are fears that the last defensive position in the city- the Azov plant, has become a refuge for many women and children fleeing Russian bombing.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia was seeking to destroy Donbas and promised to protect it, starting with besieged Mariupol. Ukraine cannot give up its territories, the Ukrainian President told CNN, pointing out that he would negotiate with Moscow only if Russia accepted the condition.

Zelenskyy has spoken with the managing director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva. Kyiv asked the fund and the G-7 for 50 billion USD to cover the military deficit. The agreement will be negotiated during the week in Washington.
