Buses and cargo trucks blocked the center of Sofia

Transport operators protested against high fuel prices and the introduction of new toll rates. Over 100 buses and 300 trucks blocked downtown Sofia - from the Parliament building to the building of Council of Ministers. There were also protests in Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Ruse and Blagoevgrad.

The bus carriers are demanding an extension of subsidized lines and funding for all long-distance transport. The companies are also pushing for a 50% reduction in excise duty for 6 months as well as for the cancellation of the bio-component added to the fuel, as it increases the price of the fuel.

The protesters are giving the government until May 18 to take action and are threatening a new large-scale nationwide protest.
