Bulgarians in Serbia want to be a bridge towards the EU

Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Yotova has opened the conference "Bulgarian Voices for Europe" in Bosilegrad, Serbia.

"Europe is about human rights. Europe does not exist where there is lack of human rights and this must be clear to all countries - both to those who are already members of the EU and to those who want to walk the path towards membership," the vice president said.

"When we talk about Europe, we mean the place where our children go in search of their future. The EU gives people the opportunity to live, work, invest, express their views and feel free in a democratic world. The path to the EU is a path that Serbia should follow,” Nevenka Kostadinova, a member of the Serbian parliament from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party said in the discussion and added that the Bulgarian minority in Serbia wanted to be a connecting bridge.
