Bulgaria’s cabinet expected to approve the new anti-crisis measures today

Bulgaria’s Premier Kiril Petkov called the anti-crisis measures amounting to EUR 1 billion “unprecedented”. The new measures will be included in the amendment of the state budget. The cabinet is expected to approve the measures at today’s sitting. Later, the Bulgarian National Assembly is to vote the anti-crisis measures. 

Pensions are expected to increase with 10%. The Covid-19 supplement to the tune of EUR 30 will be included in the pensions as well. Drivers of vehicles with Bulgarian registration plates will be able to get a discount of 13 Eurocents per liter of petrol or diesel. The excise duty on electricity and gas will be abolished. The authorities will reduce VAT on central heating to 9% and VAT on bread to 0%. Bulgarian families will be able to claim tax relief for children. The budget deficit will be 4.1% of the GDP.
