Bulgaria’s Ministry of Energy will propose signing an agreement on the delivery of seven cargo ships with liquefied natural gas which will improve Bulgaria's energy security, outgoing Premier Kiril Petkov said. Bulgaria is expected to receive one shipload of LNG a month between October 2022 and April 2023. The contract is being signed today, but it can be confirmed by August 19. Thus, the caretaker cabinet is given the opportunity to find a better offer, Kiril Petkov pointed out.

Outgoing Premier Petkov said that the condition for the receipt of the seven cargo ships with liquefied natural gas is to ensure the necessary infrastructure from Greece and Turkey, which needs to be done in August, by the caretaker minister of energy. According to Kiril Petkov, “the agreement that will be proposed is an important step of the team, together with the European Commission, working to secure natural gas for the winter months”.

From 1 July until 30 September, businesses are entitled to compensations for the high prices of electricity. The measure will help 633,000 non-household consumers.
