Wood brought from the floods will remain for the people in Karlovo and they will not have to pay for it, the interim Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev told bTV.
"There is a lot of speculation, but nobody will pay for it. Flood timber is collected in storagehouses designated by the local mayors and then distributed to the people," he said. He estimated that about 10 thousand cubic metres of material would be collected.
The minister also said that no violations have been found in the documents for harvesting wood in the area of the flood-affected villages, but this is only on paper. "If local people have doubts, we are obliged to investigate," Yavor Gechev said.
Instructions to the irrigation systems are to be checked because of reports that there are compromised dykes along the Stryama River, the minister said.
