Bulgaria ranks last in the EU in terms of the number of new cars sold per person in 2021. In this country the number is 4 new cars per 1000 people.

But while sales of new cars in the EU have decreased by 14% in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, the opposite is reported in Bulgaria, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association said.

Despite rising prices and longer waiting for new cars due to chip shortages, sales in Bulgaria grew by 13.3% over the same period. In the period January - June, 14,639 new cars were registered in the country, compared to 12,926 for the first 6 months of 2021. In June, a decline of 1.2% was marked in comparison to June 2021.
