An exhibition The light of the letters, showcasing the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet, opens in Vancouver to mark Bulgaria’s Independence Day. The exhibition is organized by the Foreign Ministry State Institute for Culture.

The initiative also features a presentation of Bulgarian traditional dress, while the Bulgarian-Canadian Society of British Columbia will be awarded a special prize by the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. Bulgaria’s Consul General in Toronto Velislava Panova said, for the BNR, that there are two Bulgarian schools in Canada. Efforts are underway to make the Bulgarian language a credit-earning subject for further education for children who have graduated from Bulgarian schools. British Columbia and Ontario will be the first provinces where this is expected to take place.

A Bulgarian section is to open at Vancouver library.
