Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov described as a risky initiative and "a bit preliminary" the declaration by which the leaders of 9 Central and Eastern European countries support Ukraine's accession to NATO under an accelerated procedure. He pointed out that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has always been very restrained in his communication on the issue and Bulgaria's positions are in line with this rhetoric, BNT reported.
"I don't see any real benefit - we could have supported this declaration which does not lead to any action. And if we do not support it, nothing will follow. We can see that a number of other countries such as the US, France, Germany, Italy, the UK are adhering to Stoltenberg's stance," Milkov said, reminding that such decisions can only be taken at a summit of the 30 NATO member states
