Former Bulgarian President Petar Stoyanov /1997 - 2002/ presented awards for civic valor and human kindness. The grand prize for overall contribution was awarded to Olena Kotseva from the "Mati Ukraine" association, which organized the delivery of over 54 tons of aid and collected and donated over 1.5 million leva /767 thousand euros/ for Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria, as well as for those in need in Ukraine. Nikola Rahnev from Gorata.bg is also among those awarded.
The awards were presented in four categories – for volunteers, for a group of like-minded people or a social network, for non-governmental organizations and for entrepreneurs or private companies that have helped Ukrainian refugees. "Every day we produce negative news. Therefore, it is important that positive initiatives and examples do not remain on the periphery of public attention," Mr. Stoyanov said. The ambassador of Ukraine Vitaly Moskalenko was also present at the event.
