Trade unions call for 20% wage increase

Incomes should increase with 20% by the end of the year to offset accumulated inflation. Bulgaria also needs to introduce a definition of energy vulnerable consumers, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa" contend.

The two trade unions demand an urgent meeting with President Rumen Radev. "At this moment he is the strong figure. That is why we are addressing our demands to him, but also to the MPs, because there will be a parliament," CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov said. For his part, the leader of the Confederation of Labor "Podkrepa", Dimitar Manolov, stressed that nothing is being done to cancel the liberalisation of electricity prices for household consumers. The two labor unions are preparing to launch a joint protest action by the end of October.
