GERB insists on paper ballots, but is ready to make concessions on other law changes

After GERB leader Boyko Borisov called on MPs of his party to rethink the changes to the Electoral Code voted in the legal committee, the party announced that they would not rush with the amendments and that they were ready to make concessions on some texts.

During the past night GERB, together with BSP and MRF, supported the removal of the Public Council to the CEC and the electoral constituency of Bulgarians abroad, as well as to increase the necessary applications for opening polling sections abroad from 40 to 100. However, Boyko Borisov called on his MPs to preserve the current status.

The three formations continue to insist on the return of paper ballots and will probably vote on the decision in the plenary hall. Meanwhile, "Democratic Bulgaria" called on BSP to withdraw its draft on changes to the Electoral Code, declaring that it would withdraw its own changes and the dialogue could start again. Later, BSP said they would not withdraw their changes.
