European Council expects Bulgaria to join Schengen in 2023

EU heads of state and government have approved Croatia's entry into Schengen and expressed hope that Bulgaria and Romania will be able to join the zone in 2023, President of the European Council, Charles Michel said at a press conference after the EU summit in Brussels.

President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, added that the Commission will do everything possible for Bulgaria and Romania to join Schengen as soon as possible.
