The Bulgarian Patriarchate recognizes the North Macedonian Church

The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church stated that it "accepts with joy the decree of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which gives autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in North Macedonia". This means that the Bulgarian bishops recognize the Orthodox Church of Skopje as canonical, BNT reported.

The Serbian Church has recommended that the issue of the official name of the North Macedonian archdiocese be resolved in dialogue with the Greek-speaking and other Orthodox churches.

The Bulgarian Synod states that they will call the head of the neighboring church North Macedonian Archbishop Stefan. However, the Ecumenical Patriarchate recognized the new church under the name "Archdiocese of Ohrid" to avoid the word "Macedonian".
