Bulgaria’s Parliament overrode a presidential veto on amendments to the Electoral Code. The revisions were supported by GERB, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and the Bulgarian Socialist Party. "We Continue the Change", "Vazrazhdane" and "Democratic Bulgaria" accused the parties that voted against the veto of political hypocrisy and conspiracy against the fairness of the election and said that "this is a blow on democracy".
"Democratic Bulgaria" warned that it would refer some of the texts in the Electoral Code to the Constitutional Court. The latest amendments to the Electoral Code reinstate the paper ballots on a par with voting machines and introduce screens instead of polling booths. Voting machines will print our ballot papers which will be counted manually after the closure of the polling stations. The law will be sent to Bulgaria’s President for promulgation.
