Today, the Caps for the Future charity initiative donated a children's ambulance to the Prof. Ivan Mitev Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Children's Diseases in Sofia.

A few months ago, the only pediatric hospital in Bulgaria informed the Ministry of Health that it needed a pediatric resuscitation ambulance, which is worth BGN 400-500,000. So far, there has been no response and the hospital does its transports with a scrapped ambulance from the Emergency Service. Then the initiative decided to help.

The donated children's ambulance costs BGN 17,000, explained Lazar Radkov from the Caps for the Future initiative:

"Our goal at Caps for the Future is to help, to save lives, to help babies. In fact, we found out a few months ago that the hospital was actually trying to get an ambulance for transport, but it wasn't working. They have some ambulance that apparently doesn't manage to do a good enough job for them. We've talked to the doctors here. An opportunity has arisen. We're providing an ambulance that will be able to do the job for some period of time until possibly the institutions or we provide some other more modern ambulance."

This is the fourth ambulance in a row that the "Caps for the Future" initiative has donated. So far, hospitals in Plovdiv, Pleven and Ruse have received ambulances.
