More than 80 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded during yesterday's Ukrainian attack in the Russian-occupied city of Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

According to representatives of the Russian administration in Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian attack was directed against the Tokmak regional hospital and a military doctor and patients were among the dead.

Ukrainian authorities have reported about several large-scale attacks against Russian forces in recent days. Kyiv says an attack on a Russian military base in Makiivka in Donetsk Oblast killed 400 enemy soldiers, while another attack in the village of Chulakovka in Kherson region killed 500 Russian troops. Moscow reported at least 89 dead during the Ukrainian attack on New Year's Eve.

Meanwhile, according to information of the Ukrainian authorities, the Russian forces shelled the city of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region. As a result of the strikes, the central heating network of the city was damaged, as well as a number of buildings, but no one was injured.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Olexiy Danilov, warned that Russia was preparing an escalation of the war in Ukraine in February.
