"Accession to the Schengen area remains a top priority for Bulgaria", the Bulgarian Prime Minister Galab Donev said during his meeting with the Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer, who is on a visit to Bulgaria. Donev expressed hope that the visit of the Austrian guest "will contribute to positive development for Bulgaria's goal".

"Bulgaria's admission to Schengen will ensure stronger economic cooperation, but also better protection of the external borders. This is in the interest of both Bulgaria and Austria, as well as all member states," Donev also pointed out. The two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation and other topics of mutual interest.
