Europe made a bad choice by denying Bulgaria Schengen membership

Bulgaria should become a member of the Schengen area as soon as possible, Hungarian President Katalin Nowak said after her meeting with President Rumen Radev in Sofia. She commented that EU had made a bad choice by refusing Bulgaria and Romania to join Schengen, noting that illegal migration was on the rise.

"We are against the tendency for Bulgaria and the countries that have external borders to turn into buffer zones serving as illegal migration camps," Rumen Radev said in response to a journalist's question whether the country is receiving support from the European Commission to strengthen the land border with Turkey.
