The National Museum of Military History in Sofia presents the Memory for the Future Collection. The museum thus renews the tradition of putting on an exhibition at the beginning of each year showing the most curious items donated in previous years. The initiative was interrupted during the pandemic.
This year the exhibition includes items of notable personalities from Bulgarian history donated by the Ministry of Defence.
Among the exhibits are handwritten notes of Major General Georgi Abadzhiev, a legend of the First World War, a German officer's knapsack from the First World War belonging to Major General Marko Nikiforov, sabres of the famous Kutinchev family of officers, an army water bottle from the Balkan War and a Manlicher rifle bayonet that once belonged to the first Bulgarian military and battle artist, Yaroslav Veshin.

The more contemporary items include the flight suit and pilot insignia of General Miho Mihov, former commander of the Air Force and Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army (1992-2002). In the last edition of the exhibition before the pandemic, in early 2020, nearly 900 artifacts belonging to famous Bulgarian personalities are presented to the public.
