Landmarks in America to be illuminated in the colours of the Bulgarian flag

Iconic sites in the Americas will be illuminated in the colours of the Bulgarian flag - white, green and red - to commemorate Bulgaria's national holiday on March 3, which marks the country's liberation from Ottoman rule.  Among them are the antennas of Chicago's tallest building, Willis Tower, and the Consulate General of Bulgaria to Chicago.

The Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, DC, will be lit in white, green and red. According to the D.C. Department of Transportation, there is a good view of the bridge from the wooden platform at 71 Potomac Ave SE Washington, DC 20003, the Bulgarian Embassy in the United States said. The lights will be visible on March 3 after 6.30 p.m. local time until the following morning.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. U.S. time, the Ferris wheel in Seattle will be lit in white, green and red. The idea is realized with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Washington Elka Ruskova.
Niagara Falls will also be illuminated in the colours of the Bulgarian flag, the Consulate General in Toronto, Canada, said. The light show will take place on today's date between 22:00 and 22:15 Canadian time. Several landmark buildings in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia will also be also be lit for the Bulgarian Liberation Day.

The iconic Christ the Saviour statue in Rio de Janeiro will also be aglow in the colours of the Bulgarian flag on March 3. This is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the BFU.
