Bulgaria has ranked second in the European Union in terms of registered traditional specialities (TSG), after Tarnovski Sudzhuk was officially added to the list. This is the seventh Bulgarian product to carry a special European label on its packaging to protect it from counterfeiting and misuse. 'Tarnovo sudzhuk' is a long-lasting raw and dried meat product which has been prepared for over 50 years from shredded fresh meat, and other natural ingredients, stuffed in natural casings. Other registered Bulgarian foods include Elena fillet (cured pork leg), Beef pastrami and Lukanka Troyanska (semi-dry and pressed sausage).
The only EU member-state which has more registered traditional specialities is Poland - with 10 TSGs, three of which are beverages.
