Josep Borrell: North Macedonia has committed to include Bulgarians in its Constitution

"North Macedonia has committed to amend its Constitution to include citizens who live within the borders of the state and who are part of the people – such as Bulgarians", the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said at a joint press conference with North Macedonia’s Premier Dimitar Kovacevski and the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi in Skopje. 

North Macedonia’s capital hosted the EU-Republic of North Macedonia Stabilisation and Asociation Council. “Amending the Constitution will only advance further on fundamental rights. And I have no doubt that this will preserve Macedonian identity and at the same time, will advance (the country) in the accession process”, said Josep Borrell, the BNT reported.
