Bulgarian roses have been planted in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Many Bulgarians and Canadian citizens joined the event, organized by the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto and the Bulgarian-Canadian Society in British Columbia.

The roses arrived from the Bulgarian village of Drumohar, near Kyustendil, thanks to Gergana Todorova and her late mother Malinka Nikolova. The idea for the initiative was born at a meeting between Consul General Velislava Panova and mayor of the city, Mike Hurley.
