Mariya Gabriel is GERB/SDS’ nomination for prime minister, GERB leader Boyko Borissov announced in parliament.

He stated that as European Commissioner, Gabriel was in charge of innovations, research, culture and youth. “Spheres, which I believe we all have a great deal written about in our programmes,” Boyko Borissov said. “There are legal procedures the candidate has to go through. Gabriel herself is going to hold the meetings with the other formations whose support she will seek for a prospective cabinet, the crucial role in choosing which ones will be up to the nominee for prime minister,” said Boyko Borissov.

GERB’s proposal comes after President Rumen Radev stated that he would be handing the first exploratory mandate for the formation of a government on 15 May.
