An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter was registered 15 km southeast of the city of Plovdiv, indicate data of the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre. The epicentre of the earthquake was north of Asenovgrad.

The earthquake was felt strongly in Plovdiv. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
