Borislav Sarafov is taking office as acting prosecutor general with a very low degree of confidence because of the way his election was conducted, Justice Minister Atanas Slavov told BNR. "The people, who until recently were a monolithic majority behind the prosecutor general, have turned 180 degrees. This left the impression of interference from the outside," Slavov added. He said he would convene the Supreme Judicial Council next week and "all allegations, concerns, fears and suggestions of external interference will be put on the table to establish the facts."

"We will discuss the competence of the body which selected Borislav Sarafov. Whether there should be a request for Sarafov's dismissal or resignation, there is a procedure that must be followed," the minister said.
